If I become council leader I'll be that shocked and surprised I'll need to go in to rehab!

Deputy Leader of the Labour Group, Councillor Adrian Knapper will be waving off a protest march
on Sunday 12th July 2009 that is being organised by residents of Bucknall, Bentilee, Berryhill, Townsend and Eaton Park who aim to highlight their concerns over the City Councils plans to build a new School to replace Mitchell High outside of the local community at the outer edge of the area at Parkhall or at Springfield’s off Anchor Road that is even further away.
Councillor Knapper said “Residents want a new secondary school to be located within the community at Bucknall.”
“During my time on the EMB, I have always been on record that the Parkhall was the wrong site and I am still concerned that revised plans been presented to the public by SERCO, will result in no community secondary school to be located that serves the neighbourhoods around Bucknall and the regeneration area of City Waterside.”
“The plans will result in a doughnut effect of children within the central part of Stoke-on-Trent having to travel outwards to remote areas to gain an education and their will be no provision of out of school time activities within the local area.”
The march will start at 1pm from the Parkhall Golf Course, Hulme Lane and will progress down Dividy Road and end outside the Mitchell School, it will be joined by many concerned residents of the area, local city councillors and its hope that Mark Fisher MP will be able in attendance.
The aim of the march is to highlight that local residents want a new community school to replace Berryhill High and Mitchell High upon the Mitchell Site that is within the heart of the community.
Now that Trentham High has won its right to remain open, the executive of the City Council needs to get on and build new schools especially at James Brindley. But action needs to take place to ensure investment is given to Trentham and that a solution is brought forward around Edensor/Blurton and Mitchell/Berryhill to delivery new community schools.

It's that old firebrand Counceler Knappe
It's that old firebrand Counceler Knapper again make the most of his new found freedom, good for him.
Sorry i know we are ment to be possitive
Sorry i know we are ment to be possitive and i once had a lotr of respect for Adrian but what a joke this is waving off the walkers. Where was his support for these two schools when the EMB was together or even in full council.
Everyone who sat in full council meetings or EMB meeting know that the biggest stand he made was at the next to last meeting when he slammed his pencil down.
I only hope that others across the City are allowed to join in with this walk and offer their support.
Stand up and be counted and make the councillors shout long and hard for what the people want not what serco say we have got to have.
People power does work but went you hit a bit of a bump in the road don't stop just go over it. If you dont fight for your children nobody will.
THE VERY BEST OF LUCK!
He's only going because he's heard that
He's only going because he's heard that there's cream Buns afterwards.
Oh right and there i was thinking it was
Oh right and there i was thinking it was to offer support to the communities its going to effect.
Well, glad I could put you right there C
Well, glad I could put you right there Chris, it's what this place is all about really isn't it?
I mean, this week it's this good fight, last week it was save Postie. Next? Who knows.. Except there's sure to be a next. Yes indeed, we may all rest assured that no injustice is too small it (now) seems for 'The fighting Councillor'.
I'm just waiting to see him dropping in by parachute, SAS style, Toilet Duck in hand the moment some hapless old age pensioner is unwise enough to report her toilet's blocked.
It's all far, far to late.
Well good for the residents of Bucknall,
Well good for the residents of Bucknall, Bentilee, Berryhill, Townsend and Eaton Park and good for Adrian. It's great that the residents are still fighting for what they want - well done and keep up the good work! I hope Adrian doesn't just wave off the walk, I hope he walks the walk too. I'd like a march on 12th of July (not that I'm an orangeman you understand). I presume they're not averse to the odd supporter from Trentham joining them (for I am rather odd - lol).
I notice Tracy Penrose says they've submitted the Strategy for Change part 2 to Partnerships for Schools:
http://www.stoke.gov.uk/ccm/navigation/education/building-schools-for-th...
but they've not to date put it on the web with the part 1:

I'd also be very interested to see the outcome of the statutory consultation which followed publication of the closure notices.
Perhaps I am just a very suspicious lady, but maybe Comrad Flello is not the only Labour MP having a sudden worry that they are about to be ousted by their loving electorate? Perhaps this is why Nantwich Knapper is being wheeled out to bang the drum for how great Labour are, as his erstwhile parliamentary representative is not known for his bursts of activity (his name escapes me... perhaps it's because we've hardly heard fom him since 2005?). Or maybe we are about to get an important announcement of our own from the long serving member for Stoke Central?
Chris,
I truly hope that old fatty's wheese of showing up to 'wave the march off' is greeted by a chorus of boos and rude finger gestures.
The bare-faced cheek! Turning up merely that he can get his pic in the local rag - waving a Hamburger out of a misted up car window before pissing off to some 'Sunday Lunch' Pub.
'- Naw, sod the veg love, I'll just 'ave three o' them roly-polies wiv loads o' custard and treacle.
Lady of the Lake....I have had this feel
Lady of the Lake....I have had this feeling for a while now, I two think the long serving member of Westminster for Stoke Central may infact be looking for the exit next time round. My first thoughts were the our beloved Mark Meredith may well take up the mantel, but given puplic feeling on him at the moment,I don't think thats going to happen. I do think Mr.Knapper has seen the opening and is heading right for it. As for Mr. Flello, I think he better change something, and a bit sharp like, public surport for him is on the slide, after less then one term. Thats bad, saying is two prdesesers, Jack Ashly and George Stevenson enjoyed masive surport all the time they held the seat. By the way, is it just me or dose Mr. Knapper look like the man in the moon in that pictour. Pooter... your remakes about the Toilet Duck, very good mate.
Yes Warren, what Flello had better chang
Yes Warren, what Flello had better change is to give us the local election in 2010. Especially their awful silence on the whole thing. A very quiet 'soundings' exercise initiated by John Healey then he scarpered. So it's about time John Denham ought to bl**dy well say something.
But let's also not lose sight of the schools issue. Mitchell and Berryhill had a good plan all along, it's outrageous how they are persistently ignored.
Nicky. I agree Mitchell and Berryhill d
Nicky. I agree Mitchell and Berryhill did have a great idea but once again noboy wanted to listen and take up the fight not even their own cllr/Governor Knapper. Lets just hope for these people that he is in it for the good fight of the people not the good fight to safe guard the elections.
The people of these two schools deserve to fight and win and i wish them the very best of luck.
