The Government will hold their final Budget next week and it is thought that they will use this opportunity to launch their General Election Campaign. I would expect the Chancellor to announce some spending cuts, but also to offer some sweeteners to the electorate in the hope that these will stay fresh in the mind when standing in front of the Ballot Box on May 6th.

Deputy Leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council Brian Ward has today confirmed that he will stand as an Independent Candidate in the upcoming General Elections Ward, who is a Councillor for the Blurton Ward and is also the Leader of the City Independent Group is currently at a conference in Cannes in France on behalf of the City Council. The principle reason for his decision to enter the contest is that he does not feel that the City's 3 Labour MPs have delivered on behalf of the electorate.

Mike Coleman & Alby Walker Interviews Now On-line Due to a technical issue we were originally unable to get the interview with Mike Coleman online. We have now rectified this. Alby Walker is a busy guy. He is contesting both the General and Local Elections as an Independent Candidate. He is likely to face opposition from his former colleagues in the British National Party.

New research on the rise of far-right parties across Europe will be launched today at an international conference organised by Britain's leading centre-left think tank, Policy Network. This week news broke nationally that local millionaire businessman Mo Chaudry had applied to join the far right British National Party The story created huge interest in the local and national media. Some people have questioned whether the move was a mere PR exercise on Mo's part. On Thursday I went to Waterworld minus, my Speedo's to catch up with Mo who I had not seen in a long while. We enjoyed a very frank, open and honest discussion.

Local Businessman Mo Chaudry has today applied to join the BNP so he can 'fight them from the inside' Speaking to the Independent Newspaper Mr Chaudry said, 'If they are open to all British people then I want to join. If they let me in I will fight them from the inside and make their life very difficult.' Mr Chaudry who runs a number of businesses around Stoke-on-Trent went on to say, 'People are not racist in Stoke-on-Trent and I have never experienced racism in my time here.
