The official opening of Lodge Road Park, Penkhull, at the bottom of St Christopher’s Ave, will take place on Saturday 4 September 2010 from 11:00am - 3pm. The event will be an all-day occasion and will combine a free fun-day with Community Consultation and will be officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Councillor Denver Tolley, midday. Refreshments will be available and the activities provided will all be free and include:- * Supervised games and activities from the Street Games


There is no doubt that Cllr Ellie Walkers resignation from the BNP and her joining Community Voice has become a major talking point in the City of Stoke-on-Trent. I must say since breaking the news of her application to join the Community Voice group and her subsequent acceptance, I have watched the debate unfold with interest.

Members of Stoke-on-Trent's newest political group Community Voice have voted unanimously to accept a membership application submitted by former BNP Councillor Ellie Walker. As a full member, she will now take her seat alongside the other Community Voice Group members in the council chamber. Ellie Walker's membership takes their number to 6 on the council and makes them the 4th largest group on the City Council. Community Voice now have more members than Cllr Walkers previous group, the BNP.

Ex British National Party member and Stoke-on-Trent City Councillor Ellie Walker will be confirmed as the latest recruit to the city’s newest political group Community Voice. Mrs Walker represents the people of the former BNP stronghold Abbey Green. She is the wife of former BNP Group Leader Alby who left the far right party amidst a storm of publicity surrounding the selection of the party’s PPC for Stoke-on-Trent Central.

Three British Party [BNP] leadership contenders have failed to win enough support from party members to force a ballot to overthrow Nick Griffin. Derek Adams received four votes, London Assembly member Richard Barnbrook received 23 and ex-national elections officer Eddy Butler got 214. A candidate required 814 votes to force a leadership challenge. Mr Griffin received 995 nominations and will remain in power.

Stoke BNP Group Leader Cllr Mike Coleman has set up a petition against what he describes as 'foul smelling trucks' driving through parts of Stoke-on-Trent. Cllr Coleman is a long term critic of the transportation of animal carcasses and by-products to and from a specialist rendering company based in the Staffordshire Moorlands. In a House of Commons debate on the Governments 'Policing in the 21st Century', Home Secretary Teresa May took Stoke-on-Trent South MP Rob Flello [Lab] to task over his insistence that the introduction of Elected Police Commissioners could result in the BNP having a say in law enforcement. Elected Police Commissioners form part of a widespread Police reform that will also see a return of professional responsibility to front line officers.
