Residents are being invited to have their say on the latest phase of redevelopment work in Middleport. The houses in Port Street, Travers Street, Harper Street and Burgess Street, close to the historic Middleport Pottery, are earmarked for regeneration activity and local residents are being urged to air their views on the plans at special meetings over the next week.

Young people from Moorland Park Youth Centre will be showing off the results of a recent project to highlight alcohol abuse next week. Walls at the community centre have been decorated with graffiti, painted by youngsters attending workshops, and will be unveiled next week, with the artists signing their names on their creation.

Burslem's Bulls Head is - quite rightly - well known on the local pub scene. It could be said that it shares the title of the town's jewel in the ale crown with The Leopard, although it may be the case that the latter just about beats the Bull's Head - albeit by the slightest of margins.

Burslem based Titanic Brewery has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award in recognition of its growing estate of community pubs. The brewery has invested heavily in reviving “the local” by buying and refurbishing dilapidated pubs across North Staffordshire. A number of police surgeries and Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings are scheduled to be held across Stoke-on-Trent over the next few days. Officers from Neighbourhood Policing Units (NPUs) across the division will be on hand to meet members of the community and offer crime reduction advice. Democracy Club are holding their first volunteer meet up on Thursday Democracy Club is run by the lovable geeks and nerds who have been involved in bringing projects such as Fix My Street, They Work For You & What Do They Know to our computers. The idea behind Democracy Club is to get volunteers to complete small, easily achievable tasks on a local level on the run up to the elections. These small tasks will add up to hugely useful resources at a national level.

Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Archive Service’s Annual Day School next month will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the joining of the six pottery towns of Tunstall, Burslem, Hanley, Stoke-upon-Trent, Fenton and Longton to form the new borough of Stoke-on-Trent. The popular Day School, now in its 12th year will take place on Saturday March 6 at Staffordshire University’s Stoke Campus from 10am to 4pm. A fascinating programme has been planned with a range of popular speakers.

Residents can make a bird or bat box for their garden this weekend at Burslem Park.   Visitors to the park can build a box with the help of local expert Dave Butler who will be available to give tips and advice on the animals.
