Stoke Central Conservative PPC Norsheen Bhatti and the local party intend to stand up for the local pub community and support The Coachmakers campaign against it's proposed closure. Recent figures show that a net 3,690 local pubs have closed under Labour. On top of Gordon Brown’s above-inflation rises in alcohol duty imposed in the Budget local pubs will face above-inflation hikes in their Rateable Values – and thus their tax bills.

Public sector workers across Stoke Central could become their own boss and deliver better services under new Conservative plans, backed by Norsheen Bhatti, the Conservative Parliamentry Candidate for Stoke Central, this week. Under bold proposals, public sector workers would have a powerful new right to form employee-owned co-operatives to take over the services they deliver.

Commenting on the news that the National Front, the BNP and an Independent BNP are all to contest Stoke Central at the general Election, Conservative Parliamentary Spokesman Norsheen Bhatti said, “It is deeply worrying that so many extremist parties are targeting the people of Stoke. Stoke residents want an MP who will work for everyone to make our city a better for everyone, not someone who will look to divide and demonise some of its residents.

Stoke-on-Trent’s three Conservative Parliamentary candidates have jointly and roundly condemned the English Defence League march which is due to take place this weekend in the City Centre. Norsheen Bhatti, James Rushton and Andy Large expressed their disappointment and concern that the EDL have targeted Hanley for their demonstrations, which have often resulted in violence and hatred towards those who oppose the views of the EDL. Andy Large, PPC for Stoke North said,
