The Meadow Lane estate is in Trentham, just North of Longton Road, at the border with the current Blurton ward, separated from it by the railway line. On 4th January 2010 a public meeting was held at Trentham High School, organised by ordinary residents in the Meadow Lane area of Trentham, about the council’s views on new ward boundaries.

By Mike Rawlins According to figures just released by the Government, the roads in Stoke-on-Trent are the safest in England showing a 72% reduction for fatalities or serious injuries in 2008 compared to the average number recorded between 1994 & 1998. In 2008 30 people were seriously injured and 5 were killed on roads in the city less than half of the corresponding figure for 2007 which was 82 in total.

Comment By Warren Lloyd. Its been reported for some time that local the dole-monsters, spongers and other assorted collections of the local un-washed and just plain work-shy have been knocking back the beer just outside the doors of the Hanley Jobcentre Plus in Huntbach Street. The council and Police have now so incensed by the unruly drunken behaviour going on in the day they have applied for a much needed alcohol exclusion zone in the area.

By Tony Walley. A child car seat safety event at Festival Park has been hailed a great success by Road Safety Officers as a record number of seats were inspected. In total 120 seats were checked during the Child Car Seat Checking Day on June 20; a best ever response to such an event in the city. City council Senior Road Safety Officer Angela Wyatt provided advice to parents and officers from Staffordshire Police supporting the event issued over 300 “Seatbelts and Child Restraints” leaflets

Our elected representatives will get to choose the new Council Leader from one of their own. Whoever the new leader turns out to be, he/she will require the votes of 31 other councillors.

By Alison Pits n Pots are saddened to learn of the sudden death of Christine Follows, wife of Trentham Councillor Terry Follows. The Sentinel is reporting today that Christine died at her home on Thursday morning, following emergency surgery for a growth in her neck.
