Staffs Uni Students Union President Assed Baig Faces Vote of No Confidence

Love him or Loath him...Baigs got guts and integrity, so that's something we need to see more of in Politics.

Yes its good to see someone who has the conviction to state [and loudly] his beliefs, sometimes you have to rock the boat to get peoples attention.
Whilst I may not agree with the way he addresses somethings one has to admit that he gets his message over loud and clear.

I take it he was elected to the post in the first place? That's generally what happens with these full time union posts. Did the group calling for the motion of no confidence actually bother to vote in the first place? Did anyone oppose him? I might not agree with some of the things he's alleged to have done, but I hope he wins convincingly, as I suspect BNP involvement in the background.

When I was a student at Cauldon College doing A levels in 1975 The College elected a National Front Student President called Laurence Nunn.

A Labour Councillor named Nurse refused to debate with Nunn during a debate on the EU Referendum Campaign that year

61.8% have no confidence in Assed Baig, will he remain as SU President, and should he?

No doubt he will class the 61.8% as racists and declare the vote fixed !

Or, unlike alot of people round he might possibly behave in an adult manner and ignore the race issue. However, I very much doubt it. It just wouldn't be North Staffs if a person's race didn't come into the equation.

There we are then, racism and the race card still live and kicking in N Staffs. However, given the total number of votes cast the winner yet again was apathy as I'm quite sure there are far more than 1800 students at Staffs.

The vote was completely rigged.

Assed had packs of campaigners harassing passers by and lying to them outside every voting station.

The Vote No campaign was refused the right to produce ANY campaign material whilst Assed had the uni covered with posters saying "support multi-culture and diversity, vote yes", a complete fabrication and lie.

There was no offensive or racist vote no material yet they were still sanctioned as to not being able to campaign whilst the president could and was allowed to lye, harass and intimidate passers by.

There were a number of complaints brought to the union including international students asking where they could "vote yes for the asian vote", Assed and his crowd offering threats of violence and homophobic abuse against people, offensive posters and imagery that made out the vote was about race not confidence and slander and abuse against innocent people.

The steerings comitte who ran the vote are known as good personal friends of Assed and the union is run by Assed himself.

The Nazi party would be proud of the tactics used in what is meant to be a fair and diplomatic debate. The supporters of Mr Baig refer to themselves as "Assed's Army" and are no less fascest and bigotted than the people they claim to fight.

There is clear evidence, photos, recordings and messages to back up this, the full extent of the thruth would suprise most people.

Democracy is dead, all hail commandante Baig.

so the No Confidence group were denied posters and leaflets, yet Baig was allowed to campiagn at will, and call the No Confidence group racists, when Steering strictly banned any use of race issues

All hearsay I'm afraid until someone holds up the evidence for public scrutiny. there is such a thing as YOUTUBE , FLICKR etc where proof can be posted for all to see and hear.

The Nation Union of Students will pull Mr Baig up if there's been wrong doing. That will not happen if the No vote sit on their hands and use hearsay to cry "foul Play"

I say "put up or shut up". If the evidence is there, let's see it and let it all come out in the open. Otherwise there is no case to answer.

If this is all hearsay then please read this official response from the steerings comitte and tell me it doesn't back up the facts.

Steerings is a sub-committee of union council so any complaints you have about them should be directed to Council.

Assed was defending his position and beliefs. He was under no obligation to tell anyone what the vote of no confidence was about. It is not for Steerings to decide what goes on posters, as long as the content does not breach the law.

Steerings removed posters from the no campaign that weren't relevant to the original motion. Sanctions were imposed on the no campaign on Thursday in the form of a complete ban on campaign material. This was done in a fair and just manner. The yes campaign were also instructed to remove some of their flyers, which they did without question and complaint.

The mention on the flyer of "this has now been covered up by the university" was meant in a literal sense.

Read the response it is clearly written as a friend of Assed rather than an impartial party as is supposed to be.

Another of the 100+ posters spammed all over the uni from Assed baig and "Assed's Army". Is this on track with the original motion, conficence in the president?

Does anyone know of where we can go to get help and expose whats happened here, this shouldn't get swept under the carpet and hidden how it has been.

Mr Baig is extremely influential and enthusiastic, but is also extremely underhand and has sought nothing more than to stir racial tensions and fear among students.

He's applying for a position even higher within the NUS and while most of staffs may have seen him for his biggotted views and corruption the world outside only hears his stories and lies.

God knows how many more good, innocent people he'll bring down with false accusations to suit his goals and god knows what he'll try and do if he has more power. He's already been kicked from a number of positions for trying to control everything and incite racist tension between people.

staffs student: all you can really do, is highlight whats happening and accepted that you will get classed racists many many times as you have already.

you could try Partnership Approach to Racial Incidents in North Staffordshire (Parins), with your evidence and see what they will do, or get on with uni life and accept the race card will always be used
