On Thursday 7 January, 15-times Darts World Champion Phil Taylor will be attending a civic reception at the Civic Centre in Stoke-on-Trent where he will be officially inducted into the City of Stoke-on-Trent Sporting Hall of Fame.
He will be joined by members of Sir Stanley Matthews’ family, as Sir Stan will also be inducted on the day. Phil and Sir Stan are the first inductees.
They received the accolade at the City of Stoke-on-Trent Sports Personality of the Year Awards in June last and this is the official ceremony and the official unveiling of the Hall of Fame honours board, as we enter 2010 and the centenary of the federation of the six towns of Stoke-on-Trent.
Phil will attend with his wife, Yvonne, and manager, Barry Hearn.
Phil is without doubt a local hero and worthy of this accolade.
He is a fantastic advert an ambassador for the City of Stoke-on-Trent.
