BNP Face Action Over The Use Of Marmite [Well You Either Love ‘Em Or Hate ‘Em!]

The British National Party’s election campaign in Stoke-on-Trent could be damaged as a result of possibility of legal action by Unilever over the use of their product Marmite.

The BNP featured the well known Marmite jar without permission in it’s Election Broadcast, which was available to watch on the Party’s website.

The video has since been removed but is still available on YouTube.

Unilever has said that the BNP had not been given permission to use the Marmite brand in the broadcast. They are now seeking an injunction against the far right party which will force the removal of the Marmite brand from the broadcast and the prevention of it’s use in the future.

A jar of Marmite is visible in the top left of the picture for the vast majority of the broadcast. Although there is no verbal reference to the brand it is understood that the BNP are attempting to cash into the ‘you either love it, or hate it’ tag.

The British National Party are fielding candidates in the three Stoke-on-Trent Constituencies, North, Central and South. They are also fielding just six candidates in the local elections.

The party leadership maintains that they have excellent chances of achieving Parliamentary success in Stoke-on-Trent which they often describe as the BNP’s ‘Jewel In The Crown’.
