Building fire in Longton

Parts of Longton town centre are closed off this evening as Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service deal with a building fire on Caroline Street in the town.

The fire service received a call to attend the building used by printing company Times Square Limited just after 15:45 this afternoon. Continue reading

Those who thought all out elections would bring some stability to our Council must be feeling embarrassed this week as Council Leader Mohammed Pervez took a scalpel to his cabinet, cutting out the disobedient Gratton and challenger Hill, and carving up the other portfolios in what is quite clearly more than the ‘tweaking’ he described it as.

The introduction of Platt and Dutton is seen as a nod to the left wingers in the group, who re-emerged in 2011 to rival the modernisers who were in danger of taking over Labour. Continue reading

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service BadgeStaffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has been selected to feature in a book published today, entitled Public Services That Work Volume 2, the book focuses on applying the evidence-based ‘Vanguard Method’ approach to changing and improving the ways in which organisations operate.

Princess Royal to open new YMCA Youth Campus in Stoke-on-Trent

35 years after her father, the Duke of Edinburgh, opened the YMCA’s Edinburgh tower on Harding Road, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent the Princess Royal will will officially open North Staffordshire’s new YMCA campus on Friday.

Sarah Hill Resigns

Sarah Hill councillor for Springfields and Trent Vale has resigned from the city council after being removed from her cabinet position at the Labour AGM last night.
